This book in three words.

 Hot. Hot. Hot.

That being said, this isn't my favorite book in the series.  It is full of suspense, action, humor,  and a new and elaborate world where vampires are not quite what we think.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood is the elite fighting force of the vampires, their job is to protect the species from the Lessening Society.

The Lessening Society's job is to eradicate the vampire species.

Wrath is the unwilling king of the species.  He's been mated to a beautiful female he can't stand.  Now, his best friend has been murdered and left him in charge of taking care of his half-breed daughter's transition.  Oh yeah, and he's going blind.

Beth is half human half vampire and has no idea.

She's about to go through a change that could possibly kill her, enter into a world that's insanely dangerous and for kicks now she's got to drink blood for the rest of her life!

On a positive note, it will answer why she's never really been particularly attracted to a man before.

And boy does she go crazy!!!

The almost immediate chemistry between Wrath and Beth is definitely only in romance novels.  Where else does some freaky, scary, tall dark and mysterious peeping tom break in to your house then ravish you. Well, after you beg him:

"Touch me," she moaned.
"That's not what I'm here for," he said
"Touch me anyway."

Oh and just when the sex scene gets going, and oh baby it's all hot and steamy............Cut to the freaky weirdo enemy.

Yeah, I kept flipping the page back and forth......

What the fuck???? Am I missing some pages????

(this isn't the only time this happens..)

Fast forward to the awkward post coital "Umm, what's your name?"  Good one.

The males in Brotherhood have an interesting rapport, pretty funny.

“Rhage nodded. “The place is also big enough. We could all live there without killing each other.”
“That depends more on your mouth than any floor plan,” Phury said with a grin.”

The language used by the brothers is a bit odd and outdated.

"Yo, cop.  We're heading for Screamer's."

"Damn, my brother," Rhage said, getting into the back.  "This a new system?"

Check out a fan made trailer, kinda neat:
